I know that not all readers need to know what they’re getting into before they start a book, but I think it’s important to respect those that do.
These books deal with the influence of past trauma as well as the reality of severe abuse and its aftermath. The recovery process is messy, non-linear, and psychologically complex. There are places in this book where the lines that divide the good guy/bad guy dynamic aren’t so clear and there are no quick healing arcs.
